Fallen outdoors classic

Date: July 13th 2024
Location: Hicks Landing, VA

VBA is pairing with the fallen outdoors to take veterans out for a night of bowfishing. If giving back to our veterans is something you feel passionate about please message us. This is an invite only tournament but we are open to having new captains join in. For questions you can email: Logan Horne vbabowfishing@gmail.com or Steven Dominick nevets625@gmail.com

- This was started back in 2021 as a way to give back to all those people who have sacrificed so much for our country. Last year we had 12 boats and 40 veterans competing for who will be crowned champion of the fallen outdoor classic.
- As of right now we do not have this open to the general public. All veterans will be selected through Fallen outdoors. All boat captains and first mates will go through a screening process in order to help. We do this so that we do not get a bunch of people to commit to going then not show up and we have to leave veterans standing on the dock. If giving back to our veteran community is something you feel very strong about please send us an email or message us on Facebook.
- Food will be provided for all veterans and volunteers. Food at 630. Captain meeting at 7:30. Weigh in will be 3 am.

The VBA’s goal is supporting our bowfishing community in any way possible. We will be hosting tournaments that will specifically support our youth shooters and our veterans as well as trying to bring the community together. We will be hosting more parking lot tournaments designed to get back to our roots of having fun and building relationships with your fellow bow fisherman.

You bet they are! Bring the whole family out for some fun.

The money VBA makes goes into supporting future ventures for VBA. Things like our yearly youth tournament, the fallen outdoors classic and our future champions awards. Not one of the board members is being paid for their part and every dollar made goes back into the VBA.

This is a youth specific contest where from January to December youth shooter can compete against each other for state record fish. This does not have anything to do with BAA or DWR records. This is something that will restart every year allowing our youth to compete against each other to see who can get the biggest fish for that calendar year.

Anyone age of 16 years or younger is considered a youth shooter.

  • This has become a hot topic in recent years with people claiming they shot fish when other people really shot them.
    – lets say you shoot a fish. While pulling it to the surface it gets off and your arrow is out. If someone else shoots that fish it is their fish.
  • If you shoot a fish and someone else puts an arrow into that fish. As soon as they shoot the fish your original arrow came out. It is still the first person’s fish because that person wouldn’t have been able to shoot it if the original arrow wasn’t in the fish.
  • The only time this matters is when you are weighing it in for a tournament or a state record fish
  • We have a no cheating policy for all VBA events.
  • That person/ group of people caught cheating will forfeit all winnings for that tournament. The board members will then decide on a punishment fitting the crime. This may be being banned for an extended period of time. It may be the people caught cheating will be on a lifetime ban and end up on the VBA blacklist. This is for the current board members to decide not the general public.

Yes, you would need to be a member to compete in the future bowfishing awards.
